Lil'golem guy
This was done for Cghub's 3d Creature planet challenge. The theme for this month was golem. Wanted to try something a little different from the big badass rock monster so went for a cute version. cheated a bit on this one as I couldn't find a way to make the head more rock-like without looking ugly instead of cute so i designed the head cracks and just chiseled em in very slightly. Lots of room for improvement on this one but deadlines are deadlines.
Maybe I'll do another render with a posed version of this guy sometime. something with a story. birth of a golem perhaps hehe "here I am world, I want to destroy things."

Mudbox Test

Heres a new sculpt inspired by the great Jordu Schell. Recently made the switch to mudbox. A bit slippery at first, but after a while it works like a dream. Liking it so far. Lots of things are alot more straight forward than zbrush especially in the way things are layed out in the interface. Lots of neat stuff such as multiple paint layers, ability to paint spec maps, bake AO, and some great lighting and rendering options. All it needs is a material library and you got a pizza party.
Anyways heres my first test sculpt with it. Polypainted (with multiple layers!!) and rendered in Mudbox. I know the render is a bit much with the depth of field blur, but I felt like turning everything on and pimping the shit out of it.

Monster Concept Sketch 02

Heres another concept sketch based on another one of my designs. As well as a piantover of the 3d render. This one took significantly longer than the previous one probably because I strayed quite far away from the original sketch from the previous post, which I feel still has a littel more character than the 3d version.
